Mother's Day Tea

This year I wanted to do something special for the Mom's of my Girl Scout Girls. So I decided what better way to do that then to host a Mother's Day Tea. I took the opportunity that the kids were in Maine to get the backyard all ready for the event. Cleaned up the trees, planted some pretty flowers, got the waterfall in working order. However, my plans were foiled by good old Mother Nature and we had to move our event inside.

My house is pretty small to hold 34 people. So I got creative. We moved all the non-essential furniture upstairs to the kids room. Dining room chairs, extra materials from the computer desk, etc. Then we moved the big furniture (my couch and loveseat) to our neighbor's carport across the street. I am sure our neighbors were wondering what we were doing at 6:30am. We put our dining room table in our kitchen and used that as our serving table. It wasn't ideal, but it worked out perfectly. Everyone looked so beautiful!! Thanks everyone who could make it. And those who weren't able too because of illness. We were thinking of you for sure. Here are some great photos of our day!

My living room. Two tables fit perfectly!

My dining room. Yup, fit two tables in this room too!

The girls did a fantastic job making there mom's these beautiful tea cups. These were our table decorations

Girl Scout Father's Night

Every year I hold a "LADIES CHOICE NIGHT" for the Girl Scouts. I plan it around a "SCIENCE THEME" and the girls always seem to have a fun evening just them and their dad/uncle/grandpa/etc. Last year the big hit was the volcano, this year we went even bigger and got a rocket to launch. The girls went WILD over it. I think even the dad's had a good time as well. I have to say, this year was a success and everyone had a good time. Here are a few pictures of fun evening.

A Proud Leader

I am so proud. All of my girl scout girls were able to make the Valentine's Party on Tuesday which meant that Miss. Kiley *FINALLY* got a picture of both troops together. I am so proud of these girls. They are terrific, and with wonderful parents, I couldn't ask for more.

Christmas Party Tomorrow

Just want to let everyone know that our annual Girl Scout Christmas party is tomorrow from 5-8pm. Parents are invited the first hour for pizza and goodies. Please remember to bring in your favorite holiday treat! We will be going over all the cookie information as well as answering any questions you may have. There will be even be a "SUGGESTION BOX" located at one of the tables. I would love if you the parents or girls would fill out a card. Ideas are always welcome!!

From 6-8pm the girls will enjoy presents, homemade hot chocolate and a movie. They are asked to wear their favorite PJ's and bring a favorite blanket and stuffed animal. The movie this year will be "THE POLAR EXPRESS"

I can't wait to see everyone there!! Parents, don't forget the important items. Clearly marked in a bag. You can hand it to me or one of the other ladies tomorrow.

See you tomorrow,
Kiley

Reminder Letter

Dear Parents:

Just a friendly reminder that next week is our last meeting of 2010. We will be meeting with both troops for our annual CHRISTMAS PARTY. We are inviting family and friends again to join us for pizza and dessert. I am asking for everyone to bring in their FAVORITE HOLIDAY TREAT to share!! Pizza's and drinks will be provided.

While everyone is together I will briefly go over all the information regarding COOKIE SALES that will begin in January. This is much easier to do now, rather then waiting until next month to hold a formal parents meeting. We also will discuss any “information” that may be important.

The time of the party is from 5:00-8:00pm at 82 Serrel Sweet Rd (this is the same place we had our Thanksgiving Pot luck). Parents are invited for the first hour of the program, and then are able to leave while the kids enjoy their Christmas party. Please remember you are to bring a small gift for your daughter under $10 with their name clearly labeled. I am asking the girls to dress in their favorite PJ's, bring their stuffed animal and blanket. We will be watching the movie “THE POLAR EXPRESS” and enjoying some homemade hot chocolate made special by me.

Any questions please feel free to call me. 383-3452 or look for any updated information at our website at www.girlscouts133.blogspot.com

Thanks Again,

Kiley Rodrigues

**Don't forget, next Tuesday's meeting IS NOT at my house. It will be at the church. The same venue that we had our Thanksgiving Dinner.

Girl Scout Thanksgiving Pot Luck (A Tad Late)

Two weeks ago, our Girl Scout Troops had their very first "Pot Luck Thanksgiving". The girls helped make fun decorations for the tables along with little pins for the moms/grandma's/aunts to wear. The girls were able to invite family and friends for food and fun. One of my Co-Leaders (THANK YOU KAREN!!) was able to get her church function room for our event. And it worked out perfectly. Jason and I cooked the turkey's. Our first ever. And I would say we did a rather good job. Though a bit dry due to the fact that we used our convection oven for the very first time and they cooked them SUPER QUICK. Next year we will remember.

The kids had a fantastic time. And I was really glad to have the chance to meet the girls sisters, fathers, aunts and uncles. That is always the highlight.

Here are some great pictures of our special day! ENJOY!

The Tables all set up. The decorations in the middle represent "Corn Husks" they are made from toilet paper rolls, brown tissue paper, fall colored buttons, and raffia" Very simple and really cute

Ezme saying to me: "Mommy, is it time to eat yet?"

Join Us...Tell all your Friends and Family

Please help support Troops 133 and 655 as they sell some wonderful items at the Christmas Fair this year. All proceeds go directly to our troop. It is the goal of the girls to help purchase new items for the Childrens Wing of the new Johnston Mohr Library that is being built!! How wonderful it would be to see the girls faces as they watch others use the items that they helped to purchase!!

This years event will be located at Anna McCabe Elementary School on 100 Pleasant View Ave in Smithfield, RI.

We will be selling some fantastic items!! Homemade pumpkin bread complete with a wonderful ceramic bread pan to use for the holidays.

Homemade Hats and Scarfs. Who doesn't need to stay warm this winter season? All sizes. From the hubby in your life, to the newborn little one who needs to keep those little ears warm and toasty.

The little kids will even be pitching in with some homemade trail mix. Its so good you will want to buy more then one tin!! And best part, you can keep the tin!!

Other items will be available for purchase as well. So come down and join us wont you. And help support our troops!
