Please remember to bring in your favorite holiday treat! We will be going over all the cookie information as well as answering any questions you may have. There will be even be a "SUGGESTION BOX" located at one of the tables. I would love if you the parents or girls would fill out a card. Ideas are always welcome!!

From 6-8pm the girls will enjoy presents, homemade hot chocolate and a movie. They are asked to wear their favorite PJ's and bring a favorite blanket and stuffed animal. The movie this year will be "THE POLAR EXPRESS"

I can't wait to see everyone there!! Parents, don't forget the important items. Clearly marked in a bag. You can hand it to me or one of the other ladies tomorrow.

Reminder Letter

Dear Parents:

Just a friendly reminder that next week is our last meeting of 2010. We will be meeting with both troops for our annual CHRISTMAS PARTY. We are inviting family and friends again to join us for pizza and dessert. I am asking for everyone to bring in their FAVORITE HOLIDAY TREAT to share!! Pizza's and drinks will be provided.

While everyone is together I will briefly go over all the information regarding COOKIE SALES that will begin in January. This is much easier to do now, rather then waiting until next month to hold a formal parents meeting. We also will discuss any “information” that may be important.

The time of the party is from 5:00-8:00pm at 82 Serrel Sweet Rd (this is the same place we had our Thanksgiving Pot luck). Parents are invited for the first hour of the program, and then are able to leave while the kids enjoy their Christmas party. Please remember you are to bring a small gift for your daughter under $10 with their name clearly labeled. I am asking the girls to dress in their favorite PJ's, bring their stuffed animal and blanket. We will be watching the movie “THE POLAR EXPRESS” and enjoying some homemade hot chocolate made special by me.

Any questions please feel free to call me. 383-3452 or look for any updated information at our website at www.girlscouts133.blogspot.com

Thanks Again,

Kiley Rodrigues

**Don't forget, next Tuesday's meeting IS NOT at my house. It will be at the church. The same venue that we had our Thanksgiving Dinner.

Girl Scout Thanksgiving Pot Luck (A Tad Late)

Two weeks ago, our Girl Scout Troops had their very first "Pot Luck Thanksgiving". The girls helped make fun decorations for the tables along with little pins for the moms/grandma's/aunts to wear. The girls were able to invite family and friends for food and fun. One of my Co-Leaders (THANK YOU KAREN!!) was able to get her church function room for our event. And it worked out perfectly. Jason and I cooked the turkey's. Our first ever. And I would say we did a rather good job. Though a bit dry due to the fact that we used our convection oven for the very first time and they cooked them SUPER QUICK. Next year we will remember.

The kids had a fantastic time. And I was really glad to have the chance to meet the girls sisters, fathers, aunts and uncles. That is always the highlight.

Here are some great pictures of our special day! ENJOY!

The Tables all set up. The decorations in the middle represent "Corn Husks" they are made from toilet paper rolls, brown tissue paper, fall colored buttons, and raffia" Very simple and really cute

We missed everyone

Just wanted to say I missed a lot of you today at girl scouts. We decorated out Turkey feathers and talked about family. All who were unable to make today will work on their feathers next week as we continue to talk about family and gear up for our Thanksgiving Potluck. See everyone next week!

I am in desperate need of Toilet Paper rolls for a project we will be doing. I need at least 24 (one for each girl). So if you can, please save those rolls for me and bring them the next time you see me. Thank You.

Pay It Forward

Pay It Forward Good Deed Project:

One of the wonderful things about Girls Scouts is teaching our girls how they can be active in their community. Knowing that the girls can make a difference in a small way can help strengthen their commitment to help building a better place to live in.

The project I have come up with for the girls to do is a PAY IT FORWARD project.

Each of girl in my troop will receive 3 tokens. Once they have successfully done their good deed for someone, they may pass on a token to that person. Each girl must do three different deeds and have three different people in mind.

Each person receiving the token must then do a good deed for someone as well. This will be you! Once you have, please pass this envelope and the token onto the person you have done the good deed for.

Please if you could, fill out the form below by simply emailing me your information or you can send it to me via postage. What a great project this would be for the girls to see that just ONE nice gesture can spread to make the difference for so many people.

Thank You
Kiley Rodrigues-Leader

Pay It Forward Project

Recipient of the Token:
Please take a few minutes to fill out this questionare for Girl Scout Troop #133 that is doing a Community project on Paying it Forward. We would love to know how far our tokens have gone and the good deeds (you) and our Community have done. Please fill the form out below either through email at: kiley+payitforward@walkingalready.com or to Girl Scout Troop 133 38 King Street, Johnston, RI. 02919. Please include the information below:

Snack List is Up!

Just to let everyone know that snack list is up. We have 17 girls currently in our troop. I always say bring extras just in case though. Also, in the past we have always provided drinks as well. Small water bottles, juice boxes, capri suns are all welcome. There are *NO* food allergies at this time in our troop.

Here are some healthy ideas for snacks:

* Yogurt (cups, or the kind that they drink)
* Apple Slices
* Fruit bowls
* Applesauce
* Gold Fish
* Crackers and Cheese
* Raisins
* Homemade Trail Mix
* Cereal

Do you have some great ideas that I haven't posted. Love to hear from you!

Field Trip to Stop N' Shop

The Brownie Troop finished up their unit on "Eat Right, Stay Healthy" by taking a trip to the Stop N' Shop here in Johnston. The kids had a good time learning about the different food groups from Vegetables and Fruits, to Dairy and Grains. Our tour guide Miss Kelly was really nice to give the girls a tour of the store and Mr. Ari the store manager even provided fun coloring books and snacks at the end for the girls. I definitely will be keeping them in mind for future field trips and other community projects. Here are a few pictures of the girls enjoying their afternoon at the store.

Magazine and Candy/Nut Sales

Wow, is it really that time of season again!! Girl Scout time that is!

I am very excited for this year to begin. There is so much going on and planned its hard to keep track of it all. One of the first items on our agenda is our fall fundraiser. And if you know me by now, I am not big on fund raising. Especially in this economy where money is tight and jobs are slim.

However this year, there are many things that my troop wants to do. From field trips to the pumpkin patch, to camp outs at the Zoo. With your help we can make these things happen. Some of the proceeds of each sale goes directly to help support the cost of these trips. With every can of candy sold, we will receive $1. And with every magazine sale, our troop will receive $1.50. This may sound little in the beginning, but honestly, the amount adds up quickly.

The biggest project we will be working on this year is raising funds so our troop girls can purchase new items for the new JOHNSTON PUBLIC LIBRARY-CHILDREN'S WING. The girls would like to earn money to help purchase meaningful items of their choosing to help make the children's library that much more special. Some of the items they would like to purchase is furniture that is age appropriate and child friendly, puzzles, puppets, headphones and listening equipment, and maybe even books!

Each of the girls will also be participating in a Read-A-Thon as well to help earn money for our troop. I believe this is a great opportunity to help the girls feel a sense of community. Knowing that when they visit, they can really feel as though they were apart of the process of making the library a better place for everyone.

So, if you would like to purchase any of the items you see below, or order a subscription to a magazine, please feel free to contact me or any of the girls in our troop!! We will be happy to help you!! I promise you by experience, the candy and nuts are YUMMOLICIOUS!!!!!!

**NOTE** For a larger view and description of the item, please just double click on the pictures.
